Wild Animal Patient: What Needs to Be Done?
When wild animals are in distress and need to be raised, cared for, and treated, many veterinary teams want to help. But what is legally permitted when dealing with wildlife? Are veterinarians even allowed to treat them, and which laws apply in which situations?
This book offers a comprehensive overview of the legal foundations and practical handling of wildlife in veterinary settings. It covers species-specific biology, handling, and special needs regarding feeding, hand-rearing, and housing. It also addresses diagnostics and treatment of common diseases and injuries, as well as euthanasia and release into the wild.
With extensive experience and rich illustrations, the authors provide a practical guide to wildlife care and rehabilitation—so you can make the right decisions in the best interest of the animal.
